Description

Very rare in the UK, Stewartia serrata grows to be a small, pyrimidal tree with dark green serrated leaves in summer which turn handsome shades of red, purple and orange before falling in autumn. Established plants have creamy white flowers in early summer.

Stewartia serrata requires a sheltered position in sun or light, dappled shade and lime free soil

Supplied Size: 3L pots (approx 3 - 4 years old, 40 - 60 cm tall)

  • Soil: Fertile, moist, acidic soil.
  • Hardiness: Somewhat hardy. Stewartia serrata requires protection from late spring frosts as a young plant.
