Description

This rare species is similar to Stewartia pseudocamellia with lovely bark when established and fiery autumn colours, even on young plants. Once established, Stewartia rostrata has beautiful white, flushed pink flowers in midsummer.

A handsome and unusual specimen for woodland gardens and other sheltered areas.

Supplied Size: 3L pots (approx 3 - 4 years old, 40 - 60 cm tall)


  • Position: Sheltered in partial shade.
  • Soil: Fertile, moist, acidic soil.
  • Hardiness: Somewhat hardy. Stewartia rostrata requires protection from late spring frosts as a young plant.
  • Flowering Period: July - August.
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Stewartia  rostrata grows to be a slender, small branching tree.
    • Height: 6 m (20 ft)
    • Spread: 3 m (10 ft)
