Description

Splendid rare large shrub or small tree with eye-catching leaves that is native to the western Caucasus mountains and north-eastern Turkey.

Quercus pontica has large, deep green, oval leaves and produces superb olive-yellow catkins in late May or early June. In autumn the leaves can develop good, strong yellow tints before falling.

Established specimens can produce huge and very ornamental acorns.

Supplied Size:  3L container (15 - 20 cm tall)

• Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
• Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Hardy.
• Rate of Growth: Very slow.
• Habit: Quercus pontica will eventually grow into a large shrub or small, branching tree.
  • Height: up to 6m (20 ft)
  • Spread: 5 m (16 ft)

• Notes: Quercus pontica is very slow growing and will take many years/decades to reach the eventual size listed here.
