An unusual oak native to parts of North America, Quercus macrocarpa is a handsome tree with large, lobed leaves up to approx 1 ft long on established specimens. The leaves are green in summer with pleasing autumn colours as they fall. Mature trees also have an interesting, gnarled trunk and have acorn cups covered with mossy scales.
