An ornamental tree a little similar to Pterocarya fraxinifolia in appearance, but with narrow, deeply divided, fern-like leaves. These leaves are a bright green in spring and summer and take on attractive yellow tints in autumn. Like other wingnuts, Pterocarya stenoptera 'Fern Leaf' has spectacular, drooping catkins once established, in late summer. Unusual in cultivation.

The deeply cut leaves give this tree a more delicate, open appearance than the other wingnuts listed here.
