Description

 A charming small garden shrub, Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Spire' has silvery-blue, deeply cut leaves and eye-catching spires of soft-violet blue, tubular flowers in late summer. The leaves are pleasantly aromatic if rubbed.

This distinctive shrub grows well in groups, prefers a sunny, well drained position and is an excellent choice for late summer/autumn colour.

Supplied Size: 3L pots (approx 3 years old, 30 - 40 cm tall)


  • Position: Full sun.
  • Soil: Well drained soil. Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Spire' will tolerate dry, chalky soils and costal sites well.
  • Hardiness: Hardy. 
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Spire' grows to be a small branching shrub with upright flower spikes.
    • Height: up to 1.5 m (5 - 6 ft)

  • Pruning: To encourage flowering and keep a good shape, prune Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Spire' to approx 15 - 25 cm above ground in late April.
