A decideous shrub, Paeonia delavayi is grown for its lovely dark maroon red flowers in early summer and its delicate, deeply cut leaves. The colourful flowers stand out well against the dark green leaves. 

Paeonia delavayi is a low maintenance shrub, flowering best in a sunny position.

• Position: Sun or light, dappled shade.
• Soil: Moist yet well drained, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Hardy.
• Flowering Period: May - June.
• Flower Colour: Maroon red.
• Rate of Growth: Moderate.
• Habit: Paeonia delavayi grows to be a medium sized branching shrub with an upright, open form once established.
