Description

A rare native of China known for its superb autumn colour, Nyssa sinensis is a lovely small tree with large (up to 15 cm long), narrowly ovate leaves which emerge as a bronze colour in spring. These leaves change to dark green in summer as they age, before turning startling shades of bright yellow, orange or red before falling in autumn.

Nyssa sinensis is a superb choice of small tree for autumn colour!

Supplied Size:

• Position: Full sun or partial shade.
• Soil: Moist or well drained, fertile soil. Nyssa sinensis requires a reasonably acid soil to produce its most vivid autumn colour and grow well.
• Hardiness: Hardy. Nyssa sinensis appreciates shelter from cold winter winds.
• Rate of Growth: Moderate.
• Habit: Nyssa sinensis grows to be a small tree with a natural multi-stemmed, rounded crown.
  • Height: 10 m (32 ft).
  • Spread: 8 m (26 ft).
