Description
A colourful cultivar introduced from Holland in the 19th century,
Magnolia x
soulangiana 'Rustica Rubra' has superb, dark red-purple flower buds in early spring. These buds open into large, goblet-shaped, bright pink flowers with petals which lighten to pale pinkish-white near the tips. These flowers appear before the dark green leaves emerge. Later in the year this
Magnolia has eye-catching large, bright red fruit with vivid orange seed. A lovely garden plant!
