Description

An unusual and beautiful selection. Magnolia x brooklynensis 'Yellow Bird' has fantastic, clear lemon-yellow, goblet shaped flowers in late spring which are very handsome against the otherwise dark green leaves! A popular and spectacular form!

Features

  • Common name: Yellow Bird Magnolia.
  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soils.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: April - May.
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Medium sized or eventually large branching shrub.
    • Height: 3 m (10 ft)
    • Spread: 3 m (10 ft)
  • Notes: We have found that although hardy, this Magnolia is best planted in an area which does not receive early morning sunlight in spring, as this combined with a frost can cause damage to the flowers.
  • Size: 5 / 7.5L containers / rootballs
