BlueBell Nursery - Trees & Shrubs - Hoheria - Hoheria populnea

Description

Rare in the UK, Hoheria populnea is semi-evergreen and grows to be a large shrub or very small tree with masses of pure white flowers in summer. The flowers are attractive to insects, bees in particular. The leaves are oval and pointed, dark green in colour with a serrated edge and will usually stay on the plant only in a mild winter, falling if the weather turns cold.

Hoheria populnea is a lovely flowering garden plant but requires a warm, sheltered position out of strong winds and protection in cold winters.
