Description
A rare species of hornbeam native to China,
Carpinus laxiflora var
fargesii and has fine, deeply veined leaves which are a splendid maroon or plum purple when young, darkening to green as they age. As well as this vivid foliage colour, when established it will produce attractive, long catkins. An elegant ornamental tree suitable for most gardens or woodland areas.
