A popular garden plant, Buddleja davidii 'Black Knight' has lovely long trusses of fragrant, dark purple flowers in late summer. The leaves are pale grey-green and the long lasting flowers are popular with bees and butterflies.

• Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
