Description

A handsome evergreen grass, Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire' is clump forming with olive green, long narrow leaves which turn shades of burnished bronze, red and gold in late summer & autumn.

Grows best in a sunny position and very effective when planted in small groups.

  • Soil: Most fertile soil. Avoid very wet areas.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire' grows to be an upright, clump forming grass.
    • Height: up to 40 - 60 cm (1 - 2 ft)
    • Spread: 30 - 40 cm (1 ft)

Pruning: Remove any dead or damaged leaves in the summer months.
