Description
An eye-catching selection with a vigorous, upright habit and stiffly weeping side branches. Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Barabit's Requiem' is named in honour of Dr. Barabits, commissioned by the Soviet authorities in Hungary to select the finest specimens of native trees to act as seed sources for a huge afforestation programme in the 1950's. After imprisonment for involvement in the revolution, he became a professor and nurseryman.
A handsome weeping, narrow garden tree. and is suitable for smaller gardens with its very narrow growth habit.

Notes: Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Barabit's Requiem' is a much smaller and more slow growing tree then a classic Sequoiadendron. As such it is more suitable for gardens with limited space.
