Description

An exciting and vigorous climber, Clematis tangutica has rich-yellow, lantern-shaped, nodding flowers in late summer or autumn, followed by silky seed heads. Excellent for training on trellis work, for growing over low walls or old tree stumps.

  • Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: July - September.

  • Rate of Growth: Vigorous.
  • Habit: Large, scrambling climber. This requires support and will not self-cling.
    • Height: 6 m (20 ft)
    • Spread: 2 m (6 ft)
  • Pruning: Prune Clematis tangutica back to a pair of strong buds, 10 - 20 cm above ground level before growth begins in early spring.
